Gwen Foote -Wendy- getting back to Blogging

Is blogging a trending event or is it a passing fancy now? I have been on Facebook . I like Facebook for reconnecting with longtime friends that I have lost touch with in pre-Internet time. Thank you Facebook.

Blogging may still be valuable for journaling and mass communication that targets specific audiences. So, although I have been gone, due to lack of time for posting,

Taken by my sister, JoAnn

I am back. I will journal what events have been taking my time and what I have been soing this past year.

Gwen Foote, Science Club, & Green School Challenge Collaboration

This year, Gwen Foote sponsored the Science Club at Nautilus Middle School. The students worked in student driven activities with Green School Challenge, www.dreamingreen.org. This ongoing program was initiated by our supportive administration and collaboration with faculty and students.

From GCS: “The Green Schools Challenge involves students and staff directly in designing and implementing environmental and energy solutions at their schools. Local schools reduce their overall carbon footprint while environmental sustainability. Activities are often student-led and usually promote low and no cost conservation as part of the overall plan to reduce the school’s carbon footprint. ”

Students worked with activities in conservation awareness, energy saving projects, and recycling efforts. They met monthly challenges and enjoyed field trips to learn more about energy saving efforts.

Jupiter up close and personal

Sept. 15, 2010:
Been outside at midnight lately? Jupiter is approaching Earth for the closest encounter between the two planets in more than a decade–and it is dazzling.

The night of closest approach is Sept. 20-21st. This is also called "the night of opposition" because Jupiter will be opposite the sun, rising at sunset and soaring overhead. Only the Moon will be brighter.
